2RZ Era

With the 2RZ engine always being in the back of the minds of Adams Racing, research had been conducted to see if this dream could be made a reality. In the season before 2006, another new chassis was constructed so Travis Adams could have a shot at racing success. Since the 2RZ was strictly a fuel injected engine, the process of constructing an intake to accept a Holley carburetor had begun. Once this was accomplished, the issue of a distributor for the motor had to be completed. For more information on the construction of the intake or the distributor please contact Ryan Adams. The motor that was placed into the chassis was a 2RZ that came out of a junk Toyota Tacoma truck and was left completely stock. The performance that year was promising from the once junk motor. With the economy getting worse and college classes along with work taking up most of their time, the 2007-2010 years were taken off to regroup.

Over the winter of 2010, the racing bug was staring to creep up once again into the hearts of Adams Racing. Over the couple years that had been taken off, more parts and information had come out for the 2RZ. The decision was made to go ahead and build a racing 2RZ motor. To avoid the complication of the construction of a distributor for this motor (even though this was already done), the decision was made to run a standalone ignition system. This would also eliminate any issues if for some unforeseen problem occurred and eliminate another distributor having to be made from scratch. LC Engineering would be the ones that would build the motor. The season was almost at its conclusion in August 2010, when the motor finally made its debut. While only seeing 3 races, valuable information was gained to be successful in the upcoming 2011 season where hopes were to run a full time schedule.
